About

All about Clean Air Zones

Air pollution has been declared a national health emergency and contributes to between 28,000 and 36,000 premature deaths across the UK every year through conditions such as cancer, heart and lung disease.

The Government is legally obligated to improve air quality across the UK to meet legal limits and has tasked local authorities with implementing Clean Air Zones to meet this objective by charging high-polluting vehicles to drive within a dedicated boundary.

There are different charging categories of Clean Air Zones and each local authority will determine the boundary and charging category.
