Charges are live for Birmingham's Clean Air Zone

Charges now apply for non-compliant vehicles which drive through Birmingham's Clean Air Zone. Payment must be made within the allocated timeframe or a Penalty Charge Notice will be issued. Find out how to pay the charge

How will it affect me?

Whether you are a resident, worker or a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire taxi driver who is based or drives within the Clean Air Zone, you will be subject to the daily charge if your vehicle does not meet the emission standards and you are not subject to an exemption.

If you are a resident or worker who meets specific eligibility criteria, you may be able to apply for a temporary exemption permit. As a worker, you may also be able to apply for a financial incentive, again subject to meeting the relevant criteria.

Vehicles licensed as a Private Hire or Hackney Carriage taxi are not eligible to apply for a temporary exemption permit. However, if they meet the relevant financial criteria, they may be able to apply for a financial incentive.

Find out more about the eligibility criteria and what you need to do to apply in this section or to find out how your business, school or community group will be affected, visit the section for organisations.
