National Express West Midlands takes its buses on a journey to clean air compliance
National Express West Midlands has outlined the three steps it has taken on its bus journey to clean air compliance.
Ahead of Birmingham's Clean Air Zone going live on 1 June 2021, National Express has confirmed its fleet will meet the relevant emission standards following steps to improve its efficiency.
The bus operator took a three-pronged approach which comprised:
- Retrofitting existing vehicles to a Euro 6 Diesel standard
- Purchasing new vehicles of Euro 6 Diesel standard
- Introducing electric buses
