Birmingham's Clean Air Zone launches summer 2020 Published: 6th Feb 2020

Clean Air Zone signs have started going up across the city.

If you've visited Birmingham City Centre recently, you may have noticed signs being installed marking out the Clean Air Zone.

As part of our preparation for the zone, you will start to see more signs being installed across the city but please do not worry, this does not mark the launch of the Zone- Birmingham's Clean Air Zone will officially launch from Summer 2020.

Local Authorities across the country will be introducing Clean Air Zone's as part of the national movement to combat air pollution and reduce the high levels of NO2 in the air.

Birmingham plans to introduce a Clean Air Zone covering all roads within the A4540 Middleway Ring Road (but not the Middleway itself).

We plan to give some people more to prepare for the new changes with short term exemptions and additional incentives.

More signs marking out areas of the zone will be installed over the next few weeks along with signs on the outer junctions reminding people that the zone is due to launch this summer.
