Visiting the German Market? Check before your travel

Birmingham's annual German Market and Ice Rink have returned this year, but remember to check before you travel!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Birmingham, which can mean only one thing... the Christmas markets are here!
Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market and the Birmingham Ice Skating rink have returned to the city and will be running until the end of December.
Both events are taking place within the city centre and fall within the Clean Air Zone. It is important to plan before you travel if you plan on visiting the markets and ice rink this year.
The city centre will be extremely busy in the run up to Christmas so maybe consider leaving the car at home and using public transport, walking or cycling if this is possible. Further information is available on our travel advice page.
If you need to drive into the city centre, please ensure you carry out the following:
- Check if you’ll be charged via the vehicle checker tool
- Pay the charge in time if your vehicle is subject to the charge
Please note that if you do need to drive in and miss any deadlines for payment, you will be subject to a fine.
