Early Notice Letters

If you have received an Early Notice Letter advising you that your vehicle will be subject to daily charges when the Clean Air Zone goes live on 1 June 2021, find out what to do next. Why have I received an Early Notice Letter?

Financial incentives; am I eligible?

We are offering a range of financial incentives to help key groups get ready for the launch of the Clean Air Zone.

Subject to meeting the relevant criteria, we are offering financial incentives to owners of vehicles that will be charged and who meet the relevant criteria. Applications for each of the schemes will start to open from autumn 2020 onwards, with a summary of each of the incentives below:

  • SMEs based in the West Midlands (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises)
  • People who work within the Clean Air Zone but who live outside the boundary
  • Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Taxi Drivers licensed with Birmingham City Council

To be kept up-to-date with key announcements regarding the Clean Air Zone, including when applications open for financial incentives, register for our monthly Brum Breathes newsletter.

We will be producing a monthly report of the number of applications for the taxi financial incentive scheme, including the amount of funding approved for hackney carriage and private hire drivers.
